Small Groups

ROCC Mission Statement: “To glorify God by making and growing fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ”

Small Group Purpose Statement: “To create predictable environments where participants experience authentic community and spiritual growth”

WHY A SMALL GROUP? Kingdom life change is the ultimate “win” at River Oaks Community Church. Simply stated, it is why we exist. Rather than create numerous steps, programs, and ministries, we have chosen to put all our eggs in the basket of small groups. We believe that in the context of a healthy small group, this is where kingdom life change can happen best. We believe a small group culture is the best way to ensure that our church is actively pursuing intimacy with God, pursuing community with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, and influencing our community for the advancement of the Kingdom of God. It is our desire to not be a church “with” small groups, but to be a church “of” small groups.

WHAT IS A SMALL GROUP? A small group is a group of 12 or fewer individuals who choose to meet at least every other week, are led by a facilitator, and are committed to assisting each other in the three above mentioned pursuits. It is an environment where you will be:

  • cared for
  • accounted for
  • belong to
  • a witness to personal and group spiritual growth
  • encouraged to participate in
  • building and cultivating lifelong relationships

It is an environment that values:

  • confidentiality
  • sensitivity
  • honesty
  • openness
  • safety
  • acceptance
  • edification
  • encouragement
  • accountability
  • commitment to each other

It is an environment that fosters individual and spiritual growth through:
the study of God’s word
prayer
worship
service
outreach
the sharing of life experiences

WHAT TYPES OF SMALL GROUPS DO YOU OFFER?
We have small groups for anyone and everyone to include Mens, Womens, Youth, Couples, College, Mixed, and more…

HOW DO I GET CONNECTED WITH SMALL GROUP LIFE AT ROCC?
Small groups are where we go beyond simply going to church together; it is where we are “doing life together”. It is the destination that we desire for every ROCCer to end up with. What about you? Are you connected at ROCC? Who is celebrating with you? Who really “knows” you? Who cries with you? Who is holding you accountable? Who is praying for you? Who are you serving God with? Who give you wise Christian counsel? Who are you doing life with? For you believers, who are you discipling? Would you consider taking a step of faith and get involved in a healthy small group? I would love to discuss it further with you via face-to-face, telephone, or E-mail. River Oaks also affords several opportunities throughout the year such as Starting Point and the Connect Here lunch to immediately get connected to a small group. You can also contact our church office (893-7444 or office@roccnet.com) or fill out the “Connect Here” section of the program on Sunday. What do you say?

John 17: 20-21 “I pray for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be ONE, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may BELIEVE that you have sent me.”

John 13:34-35 “So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another WILL PROVE to the world that you are my disciples.”

Hebrews 10:24-25 “Think of ways to encourage one another to outbursts of love and good deeds. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of his coming back again is drawing near.”
