With summer winding down and fall around the corner, there are a lot of exciting and NEW things happening at ROCC!

NEW SERVICE TIMES:
We are growing at ROCC! Soooooooo, on SUNDAY AUGUST 17th, 2008, we are moving to 2 service times- 9 am and 10:45 am. We will offer child care from birth to pre Kindergarten at 9 am and full children’s programming at the 10:45 am hour! We will begin a new series called, “You to Believe”- a study in the life of Abraham.

NEW GROUP LINK:

If you are interested in joining a small group, you are invited to come to our GROUP LINK on AUGUST 24, 2008 in the cafeteria at 9am. Come to get more info on small groups and meet some of our leaders.

Beginning on SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 7, 2008 we will be offering:

New adults classes:

1. “STARTING POINT”- a 13 week study for those who are interested, returning to, or finding out more about the Christian faith - meets at 10:45 am in Room B04.
2. “THE TOUGH QUESTIONS OF THE BIBLE”- You are invited to get answers to questions like: “What about the dinosaurs?” ~ “Was it a literal 7 days?” and “Did Adam have a belly button?” (just joking). Come with an open mind and heart. We will meet in Room A09 at 9 am.
A New Student Bible Study:
1. For all Students grades 6-12 in the loft of the main gym at 10:45 am for a high energy and interactive learning experience.

NEW COMMUNITY OUTREACH EVENT:
On the weekend of November 7-9, we will ROCC the Boro! ROCC N’ THE BORO will be an opportunity for ROCC to do random acts of kindness throughout Murfreesboro. Please plan now to be involved in this effort…..more details soon.

• We had 14 baptisms on Sunday, June 29, 2008 - that makes a total of 31 baptisms in the last 60 days!
• River Oaks Community Church Business Meeting~ Fiscal Year July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009 Budget passed
  ~ ROCC Church Constitution passed
• Congratulations to Barry Blackwell ~ ROCC’s newest Elder. Barry begins serving on July 1, 2008.

• We want to welcome Kristy Rhode, Mark Green, and David Counts as new part time staff !!

• Remember - we will begin offering two services (9 am and 10:45 am) on Sunday, August 17, 2008.

1. Mega Sports Camp will have a record 500 children and 220 volunteers when it begins tonight! This is a record turn out for us at ROCC! PRAY for many lives to “Break Free” Spiritually!
2. In addition to our morning offering, ROCCers gave $2,456.00 toward helping Scott Russell raise money as he prepares to go on the mission field full time in January !!
3. This Sunday, June 29th at Blackman High School is a big day for ROCC. We will have our FAMILY CELEBRATION at 10am with a Mega Sports Camp video and baptisms in our new spa. After the service we will have a business meeting. Members - if you have not picked up a Budget Packet at the office or the Information Center, please do so.
4. We will have a special Lord Supper service on July 6th at 10am.

Mega Sports Camp is back in Murfreesboro June 23th-26th at Blackman High School from 6-9pm, and it is free! This high energy camp is designed to give kids ages 4-12 the chance to run, jump and just be kids!! We’ll focus on positive sports instruction by pro and college experienced coaches. Campers learn two sports from football, soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, game room, tumbling, dance, golf, and karate. High energy music rallies, t-shirt, and snacks included. This year we’re going green, recycling our trash! Space will be limited to the first 500 campers. We are not able to accept more campers this year. However, everyone is invited to our Mega Sports Camp Family Celebration on Sunday, June 29, 2008 at 10 am at Blackman High School !!! Hope to see you there !!

Make sure you mark your calendars for Sunday June 29th. This will be a big day for our church!

• We will celebrate what happened at Mega Sports Camp!
  (We will have a family service. All children will be in the adult service)
• David will reflect back on what God has done since January and talk about the exciting future at ROCC!
• We will have people getting baptized in our new Baptismal pool!
  (If you are interested in getting baptized, contact the church office)
• We will have a business meeting after the service for all ROCC members to vote on a new budget, a new constitution and elder changes.
  (You can pick up your budget packets beginning on Sunday June 15th at the Info Center)

Future: Splitting Middle School and High School Wednesday Night Discipleship
(Middle School will meet at someone’s house and High School will meet at The Threshold)

Needs: 1) An adult man and woman to lead Middle School Wednesday evenings (2 adults)
2) Several adult volunteers willing to facilitate Middle School and High School Small Groups on Wednesday evenings
3) An adult man and woman to lead High School Wednesday evenings (2 adults)
3) Someone to open up their house for the Middle School on Wednesday evenings

Future: Providing Sunday Morning Connecting and Teaching Time for Youth

Needs: 1) An adult man and woman to head up Sunday Mornings
2) Several Adult Volunteers for Sunday Mornings
